Airfinance Journal recently recognised seven transactions in which Conyers’ aviation team acted as Bermuda counsel, as Deals of the Year for 2018.

The Bermuda team represented a number of major participants in the industry’s largest financing transactions globally in the last year.

Julie McLean, a Director in the Bermuda office of Conyers and global head of the firm’s Aviation Finance team, said: “We are delighted that our clients are being recognised by these awards. The deals that received recognition were:

  1. Asia-Pacific Deal of the Year: Macquarie AirFinance’s “Project Melville” – a US$4 billion unsecured revolver and term loan;
  2. North America Deal of the Year: Zephyrus Aviation Partners’ ZCAP 2018-1 US$336.6 million, 21 aircraft ABS transaction;
  3. M&A Deal of the Year: Goshawk Aviation/Sky Leasing acquisition and US$900 million unsecured financing;
  4. Lessor Unsecured Bond Deal of the Year: Avolon’s US$1 billion five-year senior unsecured notes;
  5. ABS Deal of the Year: GECAS STARR’s 2018-1 US$687 million ABS financing for 24 aircraft;
  6. Overall Capital Markets Deal of the Year: Air Lease Corp’s TBOLT II US$450 million ABS for 18 aircraft;
  7. Editor’s Deal of the Year: Fly Leasing’s & Incline’s 84-aircraft portfolio acquisition. This deal was also awarded the Airline Treasury Deal of the Year award.

Other team members involved in the winning deals were Alan Dickson, Jason Piney, Neil Henderson and Angela Atherden.
