Conyers Dill & Pearman worked alongside Ashurst LLP in connection with the successful £18 billion project to build the United Kingdom’s first nuclear power station in 20 years, known as Hinkley Point C, which involved China General Nuclear Power Corporation (“CGN”) and EDF. An agreement was first reached between EDF and CGN during a visit to the United Kingdom from Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2015. Hinkley Point C is expected to begin generating energy in 2025.
Linda Martin and Veronica Strande of Conyers’ London office provided advice on the British Virgin Islands law aspects of the transaction.
