Conyers Dill & Pearman received the award for “Offshore Law Firm of the Year” at the annual Asian Lawyer Asia Legal Awards 2016.
The awards recognise and honour the best legal work in Asia. In the offshore category, Conyers was cited as follows:
“In one of the most closely contested categories, Conyers Dill & Pearman stood out this year for involving in several most significant deals in the region. The firm was Cayman Island counsel to Youku Todou Inc. on its $5.6bn privatisation by Alibaba Group Holding. The firm also advised New WuXi Life Science. on the $3.3bn buyout of WuXi PharmaTech. One of the oldest offshore presence in Asia, the firm was able to secure a more than 60% share of Hong Kong’s IPO market, where large amount of Chinese companies list under offshore structures. Last year, the firm also added a Queen’s Counsel to its Asia practice by relocating partner Nigel Meeson to Hong Kong from Cayman Island office”.

Editorial staff reviewed and selected the winners from over 100 submissions. The awards identify stand-out achievements from of the past 12 months, across 30 categories.
