Conyers is a gold sponsor of the Transcontinental Trusts International Forum 2019. The forum, now in its fifth year, will take place from 6-7 June at the Hamilton Princess.

The must attend private client event is a prestigious fixture within the trust industry, attracting a number of expert speakers from around the world to Bermuda. Conyers’ Directors, Craig MacIntyre and Scott Pearman will be speaking at the event and Director Jeffrey Elkinson will participate in the forum’s mock Supreme Court session.

Craig will be speaking on the topic of ‘Challenges and Opportunities Facing Trustees’ alongside Grant Wilson, Chief Investment Officer, ARC, Alison Dyer-Fagundo, Managing Director, Estera and Dean Berry, Partner, Cadwalader. Discussions will cover investment issues and opportunities and the issues faced by trustees in the management of properties and family owned businesses.

The agenda for the session outlines areas for discussion such as ‘What is the Beddoe test?’, ‘How far does the power to compromise extend?’ and ‘Dealing with attacks on the trust property and administering trusts under attack’.

Mr Pearman is a notable dispute resolution lawyer and has been recognised in The Legal 500 Caribbean. Jeffrey Elkinson of Conyers’ Litigation & Restructuring department will form part of the ‘Transcontinental Trusts Supreme Court & Judgment’. The informative session will display advocates arguing their case in front of a renowned judging panel led by the Hon. Justice David Hayton of the Caribbean Court of Justice and featuring Justice Narinder Hargun, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Bermuda and the Hon. Justice Ian Kawaley, Financial Services Division of the Cayman Islands Grand Court.
