Scholarships

We’re proud to offer scholarship support to students that are residents of Bermuda or Cayman who are enrolled in a recognised law degree course leading to a Commonwealth qualification. Find out more about our legal award opportunities:

Smart Start Programme (Bermuda Only)

It’s never too early to explore your career options. At Conyers, we are committed to giving back to our communities and investing in opportunities for the next generation.

For our Smart Start Programme we are looking for students who are intellectually curious with solid communication skills and strong analytical minds. You should also have good judgment and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities. Most important of all, we are looking for students who are serious about their careers and want to accumulate experience as well as achievements.

The Smart Start Programme is a four week paid programme to support high-potential, recent graduates from Bermuda senior schools, or those already enrolled in an undergraduate program.

We recruit for these positions on a rolling basis, which means when our roles open, they will fill up on a first come first served basis.

Summer Law Internship Programme

Our summer law internship programme is our most important source for recruitment. We hire students with strong academic records and a dedication to performing exceptional work. The programme is designed to give Bermudian, Caymanian and BVI law students insight into what it’s like to be a Conyers lawyer. From day one, students will be paired with a lawyer who will act as a mentor. We want you to be involved in actual client projects, such as legal research, due diligence and the preparation of legal documents, as well as participate in a variety of learning workshops.

Benefits for Summer Law Interns

As a summer intern, you will receive real work assignments for real clients that are suitable for your skill level. Generally, you will have multiple assignments at once, which have real deadlines and will require effective time management. We expect that you will contribute to the matters you are working on and take ownership of your assignments.

Our managers will make every effort to include you in conference calls and other out-of-office activities for their matters when appropriate. As a summer student you will gain valuable insight into what we do and what it means to work at Conyers.

Mentoring Matters

Each student is paired with a mentor who provides guidance, advice and training throughout the summer. This mentoring relationship will help you develop the personal and professional skills needed to fulfill your potential.

Networking

Our summer law internship programme features numerous opportunities to meet and socialise with other employees, helping you to broaden your knowledge and extend your contacts around the firm.

Pupillage Programme

There is no such thing as a typical candidate. We are open-minded and interested in people who share that quality. Naturally, we are looking for individuals who have strong academic qualifications—ideally 2:1 at degree level. Beyond this, we want to see evidence of teamwork, motivation and drive, communication skills, planning and organisation, critical thinking, commercial awareness and commitment, both to a career in law and a career with us.

Invested in You

We offer suitably qualified Bermudian, Caymanian and Virgin Islander candidates pupillage and training opportunities that ensure professional experience in a range of areas. Our pupils and trainees work in a stimulating and supportive environment with senior lawyers, many of whom are recognised leaders in their practice areas.

We invite you to further explore pupillage/training with us by submitting a pupillage or training programme application.
