This updated Cayman Companies Law Compendium includes amendments made by the Citation of Acts of Parliament Act, 2020, in force 3 December 2020. This Act provides that after the commencement of the Cayman Islands Constitution (Amendment) Order, 2020 (“the Order”), “Laws” will be entitled as “Acts”.
Previous legislative updates include amendments made by the Companies (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 2020, in force on 29th June 2020 by the Companies (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 2020 (Commencement) Order, 2020, with the exception of sections 3, 5, 6, 7, 16 and 17.
The Companies (Amendment) (No. 2) Law, 2020 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order, 2020 brings into force the remaining provisions; (a) section 3, insofar as it relates to the repeal of section 26(3) and substitution of sections 26(3) and 26(3B) in the Companies Law (2020 Revision), in force on 1st September, 2020; (b) section 3, insofar as it relates to the repeal of section 26(3) and substitution of section 26(3A) in the Companies Law (2020 Revision), in force on 1st October, 2020; (c) sections 5, 6, 7 and 16 in force on 1st September, 2020; and (d) section 17 in force on 1st October, 2020.
Other recent updates include amendments made by the Companies Law (2020 Revision), and the Companies (Amendment) Law, 2020, sections 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 came into force on 19th February, 2020 by the Companies (Amendment) Law, 2020 (Commencement) Order, 2020, and sections 5 and 6 of came into force on 15th May, 2020 by the Companies (Amendment) Law, 2020 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order, 2020.
