Jun 2020
Wishing you a very warm welcome to the first edition of Conyers Coverage! Bringing you all the latest Cayman insurance and reinsurance industry news, views and legal briefings.
Conyers Coverage is another means by which we can express our appreciation for your continued support of our team. Our lawyers are at the coal face of new insurance industry developments and we hope this platform will provide an excellent resource for clients, service providers and referrers to stay updated and have ongoing access to previous editorials and briefings on specific topics of interest, on demand.
Our first edition includes a link to our combined Cayman Islands and Bermuda Spring Insurance Bulletin 2020 with the remainder of the articles having, unsurprisingly, a COVID-19 theme. We also include a bio of team member Rob Humphries – yes he’s in Cayman and fully operational!
We welcome your comments or article suggestions and please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to participate in future editions of Conyers Coverage.
Enjoy the read!
Insurance Bulletin Spring 2020
We hope you find this combined Cayman Islands and Bermuda review of recent developments in the jurisdictions insightful and informative.
Board Meetings in the time of COVID:
In extraordinary times such as the present COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of insurance and reinsurance companies focusing on fundamentals like the proper calling, conduct and recording of board meetings cannot be overstated. Responsibility for properly coordinating board meetings is typically delegated to the insurance manager who usually also acts as company secretary.
COVID-19 and the Cayman Islands’ Insurance Sector:
Alex Potts QC, head of our Cayman Litigation team examines the unprecedented challenges that the insurance industry will face across all lines of business, both domestic and international as a result of COVID-19.
Meet the team – Rob Humphries
Rob joined Conyers as a senior member of the Cayman Insurance Team in July 2019 and has recently returned to Cayman from a global induction programme in our Bermuda office. His time in Bermuda allowed him to work closely with our Bermuda colleagues on several high profile cross-border insurance transactions, including mergers and redomestications involving Cayman and Bermuda regulated insurance businesses.
