This annual scholarship is one of the many ways that Conyers supports students and future legal practitioners. The aim of this annual scholarship is to encourage the post-graduate pursuit of legal knowledge and recognise outstanding academic performance of students in the area of commercial law. The scholarship is awarded to law students who have excelled among their peers and demonstrate great potential in the legal profession.
Jacky Tian is the Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager at Flow Capital Partners. His previous experience includes senior roles at Oaktree Capital Management and Goldman Sachs. He holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, recently completed his LLM in Corporate and Financial Law at HKU, and is also a CFA charterholder.
Jacky shared that the LLM programme allowed him to deepen legal knowledge closely aligned with his investment career. He emphasised the programme’s strong integration of company and financial law, as well as its relevance to the dynamic markets of Asia. He highlighted time management as key to balancing full-time work with postgraduate study.
Reflecting on the honour, Jacky said: “I am truly grateful and honoured to receive this award. The programme has been both challenging and rewarding, and this recognition marks an important milestone in my academic and professional journey.”
