Andrew Hay

Overview

Andrew Hay is a Legal Manager in the Hong Kong office of Conyers. He joined Conyers in 2020. Andrew specialises in resolving complex, cross-border disputes for clients in Asia.

His practice encompasses all areas of dispute resolution, and he has extensive experience of shareholder, joint venture and contractual disputes. He advises clients on litigation in various jurisdictions, as well as mediation and front-end dispute avoidance.

His previous experience includes acting for clients in international arbitrations under various rules (including ICC, LCIA, SIAC, TAI and UNCITRAL) and seated in a variety of jurisdictions. He also advises on issues relating to enforcement or challenge of arbitral awards.

Andrew works with clients across a range of sectors, including energy, financial services, industrial and consumer goods, telecommunications, hospitality and real estate.

Andrew has been described by Legal 500 as a “recommended associate”.

Advised a Japanese joint venture shareholder on an ICC arbitration arising under a shareholders’ agreement.
Advised a major international hotel chain on parallel litigation and arbitration proceedings in relation to hotel management disputes in southeast Asia.
Advised a leading global interdealer broker on arbitration proceedings regarding breach of a shareholders’ agreement.
Advised a leading southeast Asian oil and gas exploration and production company on arbitration proceedings and parallel court injunction proceedings against a transportation services company.
Advised southeast Asian energy companies on defending applications to set aside arbitral awards.
Advised a Chinese state-owned enterprise on an ICC arbitration arising out of a contract for the sale and purchase of solar power equipment.
Advised a southeast Asian satellite telecommunications provider on an arbitration in relation to a dispute arising from a satellite sharing agreement.
