Jessica Harris is an Associate in the Corporate department in the Bermuda office of Conyers Dill & Pearman. Jessica’s practice includes all aspects of corporate law, with a particular focus on (re)insurance law and regulation, including the formation, licensing and ongoing regulatory requirements for Bermuda captives, special purpose insurers in the insurance-linked securities sector and commercial (re)insurers.
Prior to joining the firm in 2019, Jessica qualified as an Associate in the Dispute Resolution department at Appleby (Bermuda) Limited, with particular experience in commercial litigation/arbitration, (re)insurance litigation, insolvency and restructuring, regulatory compliance, solvent liquidations, employment and immigration matters and derivative transactions.
What a year it has been since our last Insurance Bulletin in March 2020. Although the full impact of Covid-19 on the re/insurance industry remains unclear, the need to retain capital to meet potential losses has contributed to a general hardening of the market after 15 years of soft market conditions characterised by excess capacity, low prices and more relaxed policy terms.
