Conyers advised on FloodSmart Re 2018-1, the first catastrophe bond sponsored by the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide reinsurance protection to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The catastrophe bond issuance by FloodSmart Re Ltd, a newly-created Bermuda-based special purpose vehicle, was successfully completed at US$500 million.
