Conyers is delighted to announce that Mr. Arthur Chung is the winner of the Conyers Dill & Pearman Prize in Commercial Law 2023-2024.
This annual scholarship is one of the many ways that Conyers supports students and future legal practitioners. The aim of this annual scholarship is to encourage the post-graduate pursuit of legal knowledge and recognise outstanding academic performance of students in the area of commercial law. The scholarship is awarded to law students who have excelled among their peers and demonstrate great potential in the legal profession.
Arthur Chung, Manager at Institutional Financing at CITIC CLSA, has recently completed his Master of Laws in Corporate and Financial Law at the University of Hong Kong. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Global Business Management and Finance from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Arthur’s dedication to his studies while managing a full-time job in private credit at an investment bank is commendable. His role involves creating tailored transaction structures to meet clients’ financial needs while managing risks, which requires a deep understanding of the law. This motivated him to pursue further legal education to gain a macro perspective and understand the legal considerations behind transactions.
Balancing work and study was challenging, but Arthur managed it with the support of his team and careful planning. His ability to adapt and plan ahead allowed him to complete his Master’s program successfully.
Arthur expressed his surprise and honour at receiving the award, saying, “I am very surprised and honoured to receive this award. During my time at the University of Hong Kong, I met many talented and hardworking students who I believe were equally deserving. I am very grateful and will cherish this recognition.”
Arthur plans to continue working in private credit, a rapidly evolving sector with significant potential in the Asia-Pacific region. The skills he gained from his Master of Laws program have equipped him to advance in this field, though he remains open to exploring different career paths in the future.

About the Conyers Dill & Pearman Prize in Commercial Law
The Conyers Dill & Pearman Prize in Commercial Law was established in 2010 by Conyers’ Hong Kong office in conjunction with The University of Hong Kong. The prize is valued at US$5,000 (HK$39,000) and is awarded to the LLM student who displays the best overall performance in the Master of Laws in Corporate and Financial Law programme.
