Conyers is proud to celebrate the 21st Conyers Inter-School Debate Tournament, hosted by Cayman International School on 2 November 2026. A record 88 students, competing in 44 teams across the Open and Novice Divisions, took part, making this the largest tournament in its history and a fitting start to its second decade. The tournament continues to give students from across the Cayman Islands the opportunity to put their critical-thinking and public-speaking skills into practice through spirited debate.
“Reaching our 21st tournament is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate not only the history of this event, but also the many young people who have taken part over the years. Debate encourages students to think critically, listen thoughtfully and communicate their ideas with confidence, all skills that will serve them well wherever their futures take them”, said Cora Miller, Partner at Conyers. “We are incredibly proud to continue supporting an initiative that gives Cayman’s students a platform to challenge themselves, learn from one another and find their voice.”
This year’s tournament brought together students from Cayman International School, Cayman Prep and High School, Clifton Hunter High School, Hope Academy, John Gray High School, Layman E. Scott Sr. High School (Cayman Brac), St. Ignatius Catholic School and CF School, as well as a team of homeschooled students. Participants showed outstanding teamwork, preparation and confidence, and the final scores were exceptionally close.
Conyers congratulates all of the award winners and every student who took part, and thanks Cayman International School for hosting, tournament organiser Ian Whan Tong, and the volunteer judges, teachers and coaches who made the event possible. The next tournament will take place on 11 March 2027 at Cayman Prep and High School.
