Conyers is pleased to announce that David Holloway, a leading international disputes lawyer with more than two decades of experience, has joined the firm as Partner. David will practise Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands (BVI) law, with a particular focus on advising and assisting clients and intermediaries with a presence in UAE, KSA and the wider MENA region.

David joins Conyers following a distinguished practice at the English bar and most recently with Al Tamimi & Company, where he served for several years as Partner and Head of Advocacy within the firm’s international disputes practice. He is widely recognised as one of the leading disputes lawyers practising in the Middle East and has been ranked in Chambers Global for Dispute Resolution in the UAE and recognised by Legal 500 for his work in the MENA region.

Throughout his career, David has acted as lead counsel in high value, complex disputes across a broad range of sectors, including banking and finance, joint ventures, energy, insurance, commodities, and international trade. He is particularly well known for his work in the international commercial courts in the MENA region, having been lead counsel in many of the leading cases in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Court and acted in cases in the ADGM and QFC Courts. He has also appeared in significant international commercial arbitrations, with extensive recent experience in cases in the MENA region, acting for high-net worth individuals, family offices, state entities and multi-national groups.

In addition to his work as legal counsel, David is regularly appointed as an arbitrator and sits on the panels of several leading international arbitral institutions in the Middle East and Asia. He is also a CEDR accredited mediator and has been appointed in several mediations in the MENA region. David also played a prominent role in the development of arbitration and mediation practice in the MENA region. He is a regular speaker at legal and industry conferences and has led several initiatives providing training and promoting dispute resolution best practice in the region.

“We are very pleased to welcome David to Conyers,” said Matthew Stocker, Conyers Partner and Head of Cayman Office & Corporate Practice. “His experience and standing will further enhance our disputes capabilities and, in particular, in relation to the MENA region. We believe that David’s strong ties and experience in the region will help create opportunities for our other practice areas, too.”

“David’s arrival is a significant strategic addition to our global disputes practice,” said Mark Forte, Conyers Partner, Head of BVI Litigation & Restructuring and Office. “His deep experience in the Middle East, combined with his strong understanding of Cayman and BVI structures, aligns perfectly with the needs of our international client base. We are seeing increasing demand for offshore litigation and restructuring advice connected to the MENA region, and David’s expertise further supports our ability to support clients in complex, cross-border matters.”

“I am delighted to be joining Conyers, a firm with a longstanding reputation for excellence in offshore litigation and restructuring,” said David. “The firm’s global platform and depth of expertise across Cayman and BVI provide an exceptional opportunity to support clients with complex international disputes, particularly those with connections to the Middle East. I look forward to working closely with colleagues across the firm to further strengthen Conyers’ disputes offering and to help with building connections in the Middle East for other practice groups.”
