Conyers is delighted to announce that Ms Fung Yuen Ying Christy is the winner of Conyers Dill & Pearman Prize in Commercial Law 2019-2020.

This annual scholarship is one of the many ways through which Conyers supports students and future legal practitioners. The Student Award Presentation Ceremony for the 2019-2020 academic year was held at The University of Hong Kong on Friday, 20 November. Our partner Vivien Fung, an alumna of the Faculty of Law, was invited to present the prize to Christy at the ceremony.

“We take pride in supporting our local students. The aim of this annual scholarship is to encourage the post-graduate pursuit of legal knowledge and recognise outstanding academic performance of students in the area of commercial law. The scholarship was awarded to law students who have excelled among their peers and demonstrate great potential in the legal profession.” She added “We are delighted to recognize Christy’s achievement and her exceptional talent. She has been carefully selected by the University’s Faculty of Law Board and is well deserved.” said Vivien.

A Private Equity Associate at LGT Capital Partners, Christy recently completed her Master of Laws in Corporate and Financial Law at the University of Hong Kong.  She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Certificate in Finance from Princeton University.

“I’m deeply honoured to receive the prestigious Conyers Dill & Pearman Prize in Commercial Law, among many bright minds of my classmates,” She said. “I would also like to thank my employer, LGT Capital Partners, for sponsoring tuition and supporting my pursuit of the Master of Laws degree.” said Christy. “Throughout the two-year journey of pursuing the program in Corporate and Financial Law, there have been multiple occasions when I felt that schoolwork is directly relevant to my work and thus has equipped me to do my job as an investment professional better.  The formal legal training obtained through the master degree will better equip me for career progression and success and allow me to talk on the same wavelength with various professional parties at work such as legal counsels and tax advisors.”

The Conyers Dill & Pearman Prize in Commercial Law was established in 2010 by Conyers’ Hong Kong office in conjunction with The University of Hong Kong. The prize is valued at US$5,000 (HK$39,000) and is awarded to the LLM student who displays the best overall performance in the Master of Laws in Corporate and Financial Law programme. The recipient is selected by the University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Law Board.
