Conyers is pleased to announce the appointment of Theo Lefkos as Partner and Head of Private Equity – Cayman. Theo is well-respected in the industry having been previously ranked by The Legal 500 as a Next Generation Partner and brings more than a decade of Cayman Islands funds experience to the firm.

Theo has particular expertise in the formation and operation of private funds and the downstream activities undertaken by private funds and brings a wealth of knowledge in those areas, both complementing and enhancing Conyers’ current offering.

“We are thrilled to welcome Theo to Conyers to oversee our private equity practice,” said Matthew Stocker, Partner and Head of the Cayman Corporate Practice. “I look forward to working with him as we continue to expand our funds team.”

Theo’s experience includes representing fund sponsors across a range of strategies including growth, venture, distressed, real estate, energy and infrastructure, fund of funds and secondaries. He routinely advises general partners on their upper tier structures and governance arrangements, setting up co-investment vehicles and separately managed accounts for investors, as well as some more innovative structures such as rated note feeders. Theo has advised some of the world’s largest fund sponsors, as well as midsize and start-up managers.

“The addition of Theo is reflective of the growth we continue to experience here in Cayman,” said Alan Dickson, Partner and Head of Conyers’ Cayman Islands Office. “I am confident that his significant expertise will further enhance our client offering.”

Prior to joining Conyers, Theo worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of one of Australia’s leading law firms, Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood Mallesons). There he regularly advised on a number of high profile public M&A transactions and capital raisings, as well as private M&A transactions. He relocated to the Cayman Islands in 2012 where he joined the partnership in the Investment Funds Group of another leading Cayman Islands firm.

“I am honoured to join Conyers and look forward to leveraging my experience to contribute to the firm’s continued growth and success in the private equity sector,” said Theo. “I look forward to collaborating with colleagues in Cayman and across the firm to further enhance the strategic guidance and value for our clients.”

Theo’s addition to the firm follows on from significant growth in Conyers’ Cayman Islands office including several partner promotions earlier in the year and a number of strategic senior hires in recent months.
