Conyers held its fourth live webinar for members of The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI) titled “The ABCs of Economic Substance Regime in the British Virgin Islands” on Wednesday, 29 September 2021. The training session was extremely successful and attracted more than 260 participants from HKCGI.

The webinar started with a welcome speech by Desmond Lau, the Professional Development Director of HKCGI.

The insightful presentation was aimed at helping participants better understand the latest developments in Economic Substance in BVI and their potential impact on enterprises.

Our Partner Wynne Lau and Associate Beverly Cheung started the webinar by addressing the updates on Economic Substance Regimes in the British Virgin Islands. They also highlighted  the relevant activities classification, ES reporting deadline and case studies  for attendees.

Supervisor of Conyers Corporate Services Hong Kong, Jodine Chan, walked through a section where she introduced the Conyers’ Economic Substance Calculator for BVI entities, a practical tool designed to help clients to quickly determine whether their entity is in or out of scope of the economic substance requirements. Jodine also briefly further provided a step-by-step guide on the use of this calculator.

By end of the webinar, the speakers had shortlisted and discussed a few questions put forward by the HKCGI members at the previous ES webinar in March, followed by a lively Q&A session.

We look forward to offering informative sessions to HKCGI members again!
