Conyers provided Cayman Islands legal advice to KDDI Corporation (“KDDI”) in connection with its acquisition of shares in Coincheck Group N.V. (“Coincheck”), pursuant to a strategic investment and partnership between the two companies. Under the transaction, KDDI received newly issued shares of Coincheck at US$2.28 per share, for an aggregate cash purchase price of US$65 million, representing a 14.9% ownership interest in Coincheck’s outstanding ordinary shares.

Coincheck is a leading Japanese cryptocurrency exchange platform, offering digital asset trading and related services, and is listed on Nasdaq following its business combination with a special purpose acquisition company. The strategic investment by KDDI is intended to strengthen the partnership between the companies and support Coincheck’s continued growth in the digital asset space.

KDDI Corporation is one of Japan’s largest telecommunications operators, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, providing mobile, fixed-line, and a broad range of communications, media, and digital services.
