Conyers acted as BVI counsel to IOI Properties Group Berhad, one of Malaysia’s largest integrated property developers, on its acquisition of a BVI target entity, which indirectly owns Asia Square Tower 2, a landmark Grade‑A office tower in Singapore’s Marina Bay financial district. The acquisition is one of the largest commercial real estate transactions in Singapore in recent years.

The Conyers Singapore team was instructed to advise the client on BVI law in respect of the acquisition of the BVI target entity and worked closely with Malaysian and Singapore counsel to support the successful execution of the transaction.

This matter demonstrates our firm’s ability to deliver specialist BVI law advice on complex, cross border acquisition structures in a major Asia Pacific transaction.

Director Preetha Pillai, Counsel Rita Leung and Associate Winnie Lam of Conyers’ Singapore office advised on the matter, working alongside Baker McKenzie, Wong & Partners, Dentons Rodyk & Davidson LLP and Mah-Kamariyah & Philip Koh.
