Jul 2020
Conyers has been a co-host and exclusive offshore law firm supporter of many of the landmark and large-scale congresses organized by In-House Community (IHC), in particular in China. We have a long history of supporting IHC’s congresses in Beijing and Hong Kong, and have been an active supporter of its Shenzhen Congress since 2018. Through these conferences, our lawyers have shared their insights of the legal landscape and market trends from an offshore perspective with in-house lawyers, CEOs, company directors and compliance professionals.
This year, because of COVID-19, the Shenzhen congress takes a webinar format and takes place on two days. The eCongress, like last year, is jointly hosted by the China Council For The Promotion Of International Trade Shenzhen Council (CCPIT Shenzhen) and IHC.
Our firm’s corporate partner Richard Hall spoke at the first day of the eCongress on 28 July 2020 and it nearly 140 attendees. Richard covered various recent hot topics in his presentation “The big picture – key themes and trends you need to know”. The five key trends include:-
- Social distancing and general meetings: the future?
- Going private in challenging times: difficulty or opportunity?
- China Resources Microelectronics’s pioneering red-chip listing: an alternative to HK or US listing
- Dual-listing: are you reconsidering it?
- Cayman private funds : compliance with latest requirements
In particular, he analyzed the reasons behind the attractiveness of SSE STAR listing using examples such as the IPOs of China Resources Microelectronics and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation in which our firm acted as the offshore counsel; and summarized the observations behind his prediction of the increasingly popular option of dual listing in the PRC and Hong Kong.
The first day of the eCongress was opened by the representatives of CCPIT and followed by Richard’s presentation. The eCongress also included a presentation by JunZeJun Law Office on civil code and a session on bank regulatory update by Winston & Strawn LLP and YuandaWINSTON.
We’d like to thank IHC for organizing this congress and all the attendees for their participation and enthusiasm.
Conyers is supporting IHC’s Hong Kong Congress and details will follow. If you would like to receive the invitation, please email [email protected].
