Conyers’ Bermuda and Cayman Islands Private Client & Trust practices have been recognized in Chambers & Partners’ High Net Worth Guide 2020, with Band 1 and Band 2 rankings respectively.

Conyers continues to be the only firm ranked Band 1 in Bermuda for Offshore Trusts and is described as “the dominant firm” on the island.  One market insider notes: “You wouldn’t be in operation here so long and so successfully if you were not a top-quality outfit from top to bottom.”

In Bermuda, directors Helen Cooper, Craig MacIntyre and Peter Pearman are ranked Band 2. Robert Lindley, Partner & Head of the Private Client & Trust practice in Cayman and BVI, is also ranked Band 2 this year and has been recognised as an ‘expert based abroad’ for BVI.

“We are delighted to receive such high acclaim in this year’s Chambers HNW Guide,” commented Peter Pearman, Director & Global Head of Private Client & Trust. “It is a testament to the high level of service and dedication that we offer our clients.”

The Chambers High Net Worth guide serves as a directory for the private wealth market and is used by family offices and professional wealth advisers. The rankings and editorial draw on independent research including interviews with lawyers, family offices, accountants, tax advisers, bankers and investment managers for a comprehensive view of the private wealth sector.

Highlights from the directory

Peter Pearman has recently become the head of the private client and trust department at the firm. He acts for several high net worth clients, regularly advising families in the US as well as the rest of the world. A Bermuda adviser notes that he is “a good lawyer who really understands the practice area”.

Helen Cooper’s practice covers all aspects of trust and private client law. She is described as “a well-regarded trusts and private client adviser” with “in-depth knowledge in issues connected to trust reorganisations and private trust company structures”.

Craig MacIntyre is “highly regarded for his in-depth knowledge in offshore and international trust matters”. He acts for several wealthy clients, notably those based in the US and Europe.

Robert Lindley heads up the private client and trust practice for both the Cayman Islands and the BVI. He deals with a range of aspects of offshore trust and private wealth law. One London lawyer described Robert as “an absolute delight to work with as he is knowledgeable, on the ball and has an easy-going manner“.  A separate source notes that he “has a very good sense of what is going on in the BVI“.
