Judith Roche is an Associate in the Litigation department of the Bermuda office of Conyers with experience in commercial litigation with a particular emphasis on large-scale fraud disputes.

Judith has acted for various investment funds and high net worth individuals in a range of large-scale commercial litigation matters.



Experience Highlights

  • Acting for various trustees in relation to applications in Bermuda, both contested and uncontested, in relation to the restructuring of the trusts concerned
  • Prior to joining Conyers Judith worked for another Bermuda law firm acting for investment funds Hermes International Fund Limited and Thema Fund Ltd. in proceedings against various HSBC entities in Bermuda arising out of the Madoff fraud. She also acted for Plaintiffs in a significant fraud matter against a Bermuda-based insurance company. In 2018 Judith assisted Irish Senior Counsel in the Irish trial of the proceedings instituted by Defender Limited against a HSBC entity in connection with the Madoff fraud.
  • Prior to her arrival in Bermuda, Judith trained in William Fry Solicitors in Ireland and acted in a number of high value disputes in the Irish Commercial Court and High Court. Her experience includes an action on behalf of Thema International Fund plc against a HSBC entity seeking the recovery of over $1bn, again arising out of the Madoff fraud. She also acted in a matter for Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay in proceedings relating to the purchase of loans from the Special Liquidators of IBRC (Irish Bank Resolution Corporation).
